To my friends on this site:

Sorry if I’ve been distant this week. I’m trying to make sense of a lot of things. Three friends of friends/acquaintances passed away this week, all under the age of 25. One was a girl I’d only met once, but we had a bunch of mutual friends and I’d watched her battle with lymphoma online. She was really inspirational and loved by many. Another was a boy who went missing from a concert downtown. I hadn’t met him, but he’d gone to my university and my sister is friends with his sister (my sister’s little is very good friends with her). They found his body in a landfill, and what’s so tragic about this is that the media is making it seem like he crawled/fell into the trash chute because he was so drunk. That’s completely illogical. Whatever. Defending him int’ the purpose of this post. The third is a girl I worked with in high school. She was 24 or 25, and was killed in a car accident. I don’t know all the details of that, as it happened out of state and we’ve drifted over the years. Still.

I think I’m taking a break from social media for a bit. Or at least from Tumblr. I need to reconcile these three deaths, from all across the spectrum. It’s the biggest cliche, but it’s true. Life is too short. I’m leaving for now, to write and read and study and dance and live. If you want, you can still message me, and I’ll respond. I’ve made a lot of good friends on this site, and I won’t ignore you. It has to be in-boxed though, or else I won’t see it.

Best,
Steph

Also, to those who knew Brittany, Cory and Kara, my deepest sympathies.

What I Know: A Few Words to My Lost Best Friend

bravenewgirl12:

Do you ever feel so sad that you’re physically weak? Like all the strength you had in you was used to cry out your feelings, and that picking up something as small as a pen is almost a struggle?

That’s me right now at my desk.

Despite the terrible news I was met with this morning, I knew I had to drag myself to work; I just came home from Indiana last night after spending 5 days there, as noted from my previous post.

This post is simply a memorial post; read below for the rest.

I’m so sorry, Brooke. I never met Brittany outside of social media (except very briefly at District Rally 2012), but she was seriously a daily inspiration. I know that everything feels bad right now, and my words won’t help, but I just want to express my sincere sympathy. I’m thinking about you and your sisters and her family and praying for you all.
